The violent incident happened around 4 a.m. at the Maritime Museum on the Leuvehaven near the center of the port city. The perpetrator had already walked past the victim twice before the assault, as can be seen on security camera images. The first time, he had two large bags with him. When he reappears, he has a concrete paving stone with him, which he carries on his head. After the man threw the contraption, he ran away. The police are looking for him.
