Witnesses said the man, identified as José Augusto Mota Silva, 32, arrived at the unit complaining of severe pain. Images show him sitting down, with his head tilted to the left.
A person from the UPA approaches him, but he does not react. Then, José is placed on the stretcher by an employee.
In a statement, the SMS stated that everything happened "very quickly", that the patient was lucid, and walked into the unit. However, when he was attended to, the man was unconscious.
"According to initial reports from professionals, everything happened very quickly, the patient was lucid and walked into the unit, accompanied by a person who said he could not remain there," says an excerpt from the note.
