At that time, Suarni (63) and her husband, Safaruddin (65), had been invited by a number of their friends who had gathered at Suarni's hut to leave the location to avoid conflict with the herd of elephants. However, Suarni refused. Instead, she invited her friends to stay.
Soon, the herd of elephants began to tear apart the back of the hut. Suarni's friends then ran to avoid the elephants. On the contrary, Suarni did not run. She was finally attacked by the elephants and died in a terrible condition.
"Mr. Safaruddin tried to help Mrs. Suarni, but he was helpless," he said.
