According to preliminary information, the chain of collisions was caused by a fatal accident. The driver of trolleybus BKM #409, having finished work on route #20, stopped at a car wash at 23:44. After stopping, she got out of the cabin to adjust the mirror and accidentally touched the starter pedal with her foot. It jammed and the vehicle, left without control, jerked forward. The entire incident was recorded on video cameras installed in the driver's cabin and at the car wash itself.
